Georg Bauer (railway worker)
Georg Bauer (born June 30, 1886 in Zwickau , † December 16, 1952 in Kassel ) was a German engineer and railway official.
Career
Bauer finished his training as a qualified engineer. From April 20, 1944 he was Vice President of the Reich Railway Directorate in Kassel . After the end of World War II , he was operations manager on behalf of the US armed forces from June 11 to June 30, 1945 . From July 18, 1945 to February 1, 1946 he held the position of director of the Supreme Management in the American Zone , but was removed from his position in the course of the denazification .
On October 29, 1947, he became the first (and only) general director of the Association of Southwest German Railways (SWDE) in the French zone of occupation . It remained so until June 30, 1952, when the SWDE was finally incorporated into the Deutsche Bundesbahn .
