Georg Baumann (born July 21, 1927 in Opole ) is a German former functionary of the SED and the Association of Mutual Peasant Aid in the GDR . From 1950 to 1954 he was a candidate for the Central Committee of the SED .

Career

Baumann was born on July 21, 1927 in Opole, Upper Silesia, the son of a locksmith. After attending elementary and vocational school, he was drafted into the RAD in 1944. After the end of the war he worked as a locksmith in Weimar until 1947 . During this time he joined the KPD in 1945 , and accordingly became a member of the SED in 1946. In 1947 the SED delegated Baumann to the first two-year course at the Karl Marx party college . After completing his studies, he was initially employed as cultural director at the MTS Niedersachswerfen , before moving to the MTS Magdala as cultural director for some time in 1950 . At the same time he was press officer for the MTS regional administration in Thuringia . On the III. At the SED party congress in July 1950, Baumann was elected as a candidate for the SED Central Committee at the age of just under 23. Shortly afterwards he moved to Erfurt , where he held the full-time position of 1st secretary of the VdgB state board of Thuringia until the state was dissolved in July 1952. After the establishment of the district structures in the GDR, he headed the VdgB district board of Erfurt as first secretary until 1953 . At times he also acted as a special representative of the Central Committee of the SED for the field of agriculture in the Erfurt district. In the same year Baumann was appointed first secretary of the VdgB district board in Neubrandenburg , in this function he was part of the SED district leadership in Neubrandenburg and from 1954 also as a candidate for the office. At the 4th party congress of the SED in April 1954, Baumann was not re-elected to the Central Committee.
