Georg Baumgartner (politician, 1860)
Georg Baumgartner (born November 6, 1860 in Steyrling , † November 28, 1927 in Wels ) was an Austrian Catholic clergyman and Christian social politician.
After attending the one-class elementary school in Steyrling, Georg Baumgartner attended the Jesuit private high school on Freinberg near Linz and the Linz State High School (today: Academic High School ) from 1873 to 1881 . After high school he attended the seminary in Linz and was on 27 July 1884 in Linz for priests ordained. From 1885 he was a cooperator in Wels. From 1889 to 1902 he worked as an editor for the Welser Zeitung , in 1894 he founded the Catholic workers' association in Wels. From 1902 to 1903 he was provisional parish priest, from 1903 to 1914 city pastor in Weyer . From 1914 he was city pastor, from 1919 also dean in Wels.
Baumgartner was a member of the Austrian Reichsrat from 1903 to 1918 , from 1909 to 1915 a member of the Upper Austrian Landtag and 1918/19 a member of the Provisional National Assembly and the Provisional Provincial Assembly of Upper Austria .
