Georg Bennewitz
Georg Bennewitz (born January 14, 1877 in Zeithain ; † after 1942) was a German National Socialist functionary.
Life
He came from a Saxon farming family, went to elementary school in Zeithain and then to the citizens' school in Riesa and then to 1893 the agricultural high school in Döbeln . He then gained practical experience in agriculture as an apprentice in Röhrsdorf and as an agricultural official in the Prussian province of Saxony . He later changed jobs twice before leasing the Oberwutzschwitz manor in 1903 . After the outbreak of World War I until 1919, Georg Bennewitz was responsible for grain and livestock farming in the Döbeln district administration. After the lease had expired and the manor Oberwutzschwitz was sold by the owner, Georg Bennewitz leased the manor Nickern near Dresden in 1929 .
On March 1, 1931, Georg Bennewitz joined the NSDAP (membership number 437 397) and in the same year became a member of the "Agricultural Policy Department" (APA) headed by Walter Darré at the NS-Reichsorganisationsleitung II in Munich . Two years later, he took over the role of Head of State Department II "The Court" in the State of Saxony . In addition, he was a district farmer's leader, from 1936 also for the Dresden district, and also a district consultant for agriculture. In 1934 Georg Bennewitz joined the SS and became a farmer's advisor for Dresden and the surrounding area. In 1938 he was promoted to Obersturmführer in the SS.
In 1942 Georg Bennewitz was relieved of his position as state head of department in Saxony. The manor Nickern was expropriated in 1945 through the land reform.
