Georg Berkholz
Georg Berkholz (born November 23, 1817 in Heidenfeld (Livl.), Now Sarkaņi, Madona district , Latvia ; † January 7, 1886 in Meran ) was a Baltic German librarian and publicist.
From 1852 to 1861 he was the librarian of the Imperial Public Library (founder of the Russica Department) and the Grand Duchess Helena Pavlovna in St. Petersburg.
In addition, he was a member from 1842, from 1866 to 1875 co-director, from 1876 to 1885 president and from 1885 honorary member of the Society for the History and Archeology of the Baltic Provinces of Russia .
From 1862 to 1869 he was editor of the Baltic Monthly (until 1865 with Theodor Boetticher and Alexander Faltin ).
