Ernsttal is a district of Mudau in the Neckar-Odenwald district in Baden-Württemberg .

geography

Ernsttal is located in the Odenwald in the valley of the Teufelsbach (Untertal) at about 270  m above sea level. NHN . To the west of the village is Waldleiningen Castle , Schloßau to the south and Mörschenhardt to the east . In the north of Ernsttal runs the state border with Bavaria , in the west with Hesse .

history

In 1314 Ernsttal was first mentioned in a document as "Nuwenbrunnen". The original name Neubrunn goes back to the source in the center of the village, the "New Fountain". In 1318 Neubrunn became the property of the Amorbach monastery and thus to Kurmainz . In 1803 Neubrunn came briefly to the Principality of Leiningen and in 1806 to the Grand Duchy of Baden . In 1837 the community of Neubrunn was renamed Ernsttal in honor of the Hereditary Prince Ernst zu Leiningen and in 1838 it was incorporated into Mörschenhardt . On September 1, 1971, Mörschenhardt was incorporated into the Mudau community.
