Rumpfen is a district of Mudau in the Neckar-Odenwald district in Baden-Württemberg .

Rumpfen is located in the Odenwald at about 420  m above sea level. NHN on the upper reaches of the Steinbächle . The state road 585 leads through the village from Mudau to Unterneudorf and on to Buchen im Odenwald . The village of Steinbach lies north of Rumpfen, down the valley .

history

Rumpfen probably originated as early as the 11th century. In 1318 the village came to Kurmainz . In 1803 Rumpfen was briefly transferred to the Principality of Leiningen and in 1806 to the Grand Duchy of Baden . From January 1, 1936 to 1945, Rumpfen belonged to the Steinbach community, after which the village became independent again. On January 1, 1975, Rumpfen was finally incorporated into the municipality of Mudau.
