Steinbach is a district of Mudau in the Neckar-Odenwald district in Baden-Württemberg .
geography
Steinbach is located in the Odenwald at about 430 m above sea level. NHN am Steinbächle . The district road 3916 runs through the village from Mudau to Stürzenhardt , which then continues into the Morretal . The village of Rumpfen is located south of Steinbach up the valley , while the border with Bavaria runs north .
history
The Steinbach farm was first mentioned in a document in the middle of the 11th century. In 1271 he came to Kurmainz . As early as 1400 Steinbach was larger than Mudau with 175 inhabitants. In 1803 Steinbach was briefly transferred to the Principality of Leiningen and in 1806 to the Grand Duchy of Baden . Between January 1, 1936 and 1945, Rumpfen and Stürzenhardt belonged to the Steinbach community, after which the two villages became independent again. On January 1, 1975 Steinbach was incorporated into the community of Mudau.
