Georg Bitter (lawyer)

Georg Bitter (born October 5, 1968 in Beuel ) is a German author , lawyer and professor at the University of Mannheim .

Career

Bitter spent his school days in Siegburg , where he graduated from high school in 1988. In April 1990 he began studying law at the University of Hamburg, which he completed in May 1995 with the first state examination in law. In 1999, Bitter was awarded a Dr. med. At the University of Hamburg for his examination of “Group legal direct liability for partnerships”. iur. PhD. In the same year he passed the second state examination in law. Bitter then became a research assistant to Karsten Schmidt at the Institute for Commercial and Business Law at the University of Bonn . There he completed his habilitation in June 2005 with the thesis "Legal Entity for Third Party Accounts - External Effects of the Administrative Trustee" .

In the 2005/06 winter semester, Bitter accepted a position at the University of Mannheim , where he has held the chair for civil law, banking and capital market law, and insolvency law ever since. In 2006 he turned down an offer from the University of Bayreuth (successor to Volker Emmerich ). Bitter has been a lecturer in commercial law and capital markets law at the Mannheim Business School (MBS) since 2008 .

Bitter is legal advisor to the ADFC Hamburg e. V. and member of selection committees of the German National Academic Foundation .
