Georg Butzbach (born April 28, 1956 in Sitterswald ) is a former German boxer.

The Saarland Georg Butzbach in 1976 and 1978 Professional German by beating Horst Lang heavyweight champion. On June 4, 1979, he boxed in the Berlin Deutschlandhalle in a three-round exhibition match against Muhammad Ali . On September 14, 1979 Georg Butzbach lost his first professional fight in South Africa , against world number boxer Kallie Knoetze. In the first four rounds of the fight Butzbach dominated and led clearly on points until he injured his hitting hand and finally lost the fight in the seventh round by knockout . In his next fight he defeated the former European champion Jean-Pierre Coopman from Belgium over ten rounds on points.

In the period that followed, Butzbach lost most of his professional fights, including against the later world and European champion Frank Bruno . Most of the time, Butzbach was only signed as an opponent shortly before the evening of the fight and therefore had no proper training preparation.

On June 3, 1983 he was defeated in Frankfurt am Main by the German hope Reiner Hartmann by TKO (Technical Knockout) in the seventh round. Due to his courageous commitment, however, he was celebrated by the audience and praised by the specialist press. In March 1985 he was defeated by the Italian Francesco Damiani in his second professional fight by technical knockout in round two. Georg Butzbach achieved his last victory in 1986 against Andreas Anderegg by knockout and ended his career in the same year.
