Georg Dütsch
Georg Dütsch (born January 8 . Jul / 20th January 1857 greg. In Saint Petersburg , † September 16 jul. / 28. September 1891 greg. ) Was a Russian conductor , composer and folk song collector of Danish descent.
Georg Dütsch was a son of the Copenhagen-born conductor Otto Dütsch who worked in St. Petersburg . From 1866 to 1875 he studied at the St. Petersburg Conservatory a . a. Composition with Nikolai Rimski-Korsakow . From 1881 to 1884 he conducted the university's student orchestra, from 1884 the “Russian Symphony Concerts” and those of the Imperial Russian Music Society. From 1889 he directed the orchestra school of the Petersburg Conservatory.
In 1886 Dütsch took part in the first folklore expedition of the song commission of the Russian Geographical Society to record peasant chants from the Russian north (published posthumously in 1894).
