Friedrich August Schmidt (Lexicographer)

Georg Friedrich August Schmidt (* 1785 ; † January 16, 1858 in Ilmenau ) was a German Protestant theologian, clergyman, superintendent , church councilor as well as bibliographer and lexicographer .

Life

Friedrich August Schmidt was initially adjunct and deacon in Allstedt and pastor in Mönchpfiffel and was appointed on July 17, 1822 as the successor to superintendent and pastor Johann Heinrich Gotthelf Teubner , who was retired on June 18, 1822 . For 1827 his pastoral work as pastor in Winkel and as senior pastor and superintendent of the Diocese of Ilmenau is given.

From 1823 to 1853 he was a continuation of Friedrich von Schlichtegroll's Nekrologs, the work New Nekrolog der Deutschen .
