Georg Geisler (born June 27, 1881 ; † 1964 ) was a German administrative lawyer.

Life

Geisler studied law at the Albert-Ludwigs-University . In 1900 he became a member of the Corps Suevia Freiburg . He was promoted to Dr. iur. PhD . After the assessor examination in 1908 he became a laborer in the Royal Prussian Ministry of Justice . In the same year he was elected to the paid city councilor of Gleiwitz . In 1912 he was elected 2nd mayor. From 1925 to 1933 he was Lord Mayor of Gleiwitz. Geisler belonged to the German Center Party . This was fought by the National Socialists because it stood for democracy and the rule of law. In 1931 Geisler took a celebratory event for the old men of his corps against the discrimination of "Jewish" students by their fellow students who felt superior because of their supposed "Aryan" descent . Geisler was illegally removed from his post as mayor in 1933 by the National Socialists. A National Socialist was appointed instead.
