The George Graefe Pulsnitzer gingerbread GmbH & Co. KG is a manufacturer of Pulsnitzer gingerbread and variants of gingerbread .

history

The Pfefferküchlerei "Georg Gräfe Pulsnitzer Pfefferkuchen" was founded on October 1st, 1909 by Richard Georg Gräfe, the grandfather of today's owner Jürgen Nitsche, in Pulsnitz. In 1914, at the age of 31, Gräfe passed his master craftsman examination in the “gingerbread town” of Pulsnitz. His macaroon and Elisen gingerbreads enjoyed great popularity and he was one of the first Pulsnitzers to buy a car, which enabled him to serve the markets in Upper Lusatia . In addition to the Christmas business, his products were also sold at “Neukircher Schießen”, “ Lorenzmarkt ” near Strehla and in Bautzen . In addition, Richard Georg Gräfe already offered his goods to order by post. After Gräfe and his wife had run the business for over 40 years, the business had to be given up on August 31, 1950 for health reasons. Since there was no successor, the shop was closed for three years.

From September 1953, the founder's daughter, Ruth Nitsche, continued to run the business and also started producing pasta . From July 1961, her son Jürgen took over and reopened the Georg Gräfe Pfefferküchlerei. Until the end of the GDR , raw materials were constantly scarce and entrepreneurship was reluctant to be seen. The name Pulsnitzer Pfefferkuchen has been protected as a trademark of BÄKO Ost eG since 1992 . This trademark is also used by the Gräfe company.

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of his master's title in 2008, the company owner was awarded the “Golden Master's Certificate”. The company has been offering its products regularly on the Dresden Striezelmarkt for many years .
