Georg Herzig (born July 3, 1941 in Metz , † June 13, 2008 in Bonn ) was a German painter.

Life

Nothing is known about his youth and school education. He learned painting from Professor Loschwitz in Berlin and was trained in the techniques of the old masters and in restoration. He went on educational trips to India, Afghanistan, Greece, Denmark, Mexico and the USA and settled as a freelance artist in Provence, near Avignon. He worked there for twelve years. In the meantime he stayed for two years with the Tarahumara Indians in Mexico. Then he returned to Germany. Most recently he had his studio in the wallpaper factory in Bonn-Beuel. Georg Herzig created abstract pictures, landscapes, still lifes and portraits.

He also worked in various spaghetti westerns such as B. Oklahoma John - The sheriff of Rio Rojo with. At this stage of his life he liked to be referred to as the "German James Dean ". The last film in which he took part, among others with Marius Müller-Westernhagen and Dunja Rajter , was in 1972 "The night is not there to sleep alone" directed by Gerhardt Schmidt . Herzig has a daughter.
