Oklahoma John - The sheriff of Rio Rojo (original title: Il ranch degli spietati ) is an early, made in Italian-Spanish-German co-production in 1964 spaghetti western . It was first seen in German-speaking countries on June 5, 1966 in a slightly abbreviated form.
action
The new Sheriff Oklahoma John arrives in a dusty little town and immediately starts an investigation into the murder of his predecessor; He is also investigating the cold-blooded murder of the father of a young city lady, Georgina White. Again and again he comes across the helpers of the powerful and sadistic rancher Ron Edwards, who exercises control over the area. John suspects that his predecessor's murderers are among his cowboys. His attempts to collect sufficient evidence of the guilt of foreman Hondo and Edwards' son Jim are repeatedly hampered. Georgina's father's murderer is also still at large. With the help of his deputies, however, John can pull the strings together; they point to the corrupt banker Steve Watson, who is behind all events. John finally clears up the matter.
criticism
The lexicon of international films saw a “Euro-Western that uses a clichéd father-son conflict as a hook for a moderately exciting plot.” The Protestant film observer drew the following conclusion: “A bit more superficial in the representation of conflicts and characters German western. From 14 without recommendation. "
Remarks
The identification of the main character with the judoka Anton Geesink , which is sometimes made, is incorrect.
The Italian title is Il ranch degli spietati , international The Man from Oklahoma .
The complete film music was released on CD.
