Georg Holzmann (politician)

Johann Georg Hol (t) zmann (born August 28, 1791 in Petterweil ; † May 15, 1893 at Leustadt farm ) was a Hessian farmer, mayor and member of parliament.

Holzmann was the son of the mayor and church elder in Petterweil Johannes Holzmann and his wife Charlotte Katherina nee Stein from Pirmasens . Holzmann, who was a Protestant denomination, married Maria Katharina Gegina née Thomas (* 1786/1787) in Petterweil on April 21, 1813, the daughter of the judge and farmers in Petterweil Philipp Thomas and his wife Anna Susanna née Eberhard.

Holzmann was mayor of Petterweil from 1825 to 1852 and from 1849 district councilor in the 3rd district of the Friedberg administrative district . After the March Revolution , the members of the first chamber of the estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse were elected for the first time. Holzmann was elected in 1849 for constituency 9 Vilbel and Friedberg and confirmed in the election in 1850. In 1850 he resigned at the end of the electoral term. In December 1848 he became secretary in the Wetterauer Association and there in April 1849 chairman of the suburb of Petterweil. In May 1849 he was a member of the Defense Committee.
