Georg Jahoda

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Georg Jahoda (born November 28, 1863 in Vienna ; † November 24, 1926 there ) was an Austrian printer's owner and publisher. As a co-owner of the Jahoda & Siegel printing company, he published the magazine Die Fackel for Karl Kraus from 1901 until his death .

The son of a small print shop owner who immigrated from Bohemia shared the fanatical enthusiasm of Karl Kraus for the word and so he succeeded in largely fulfilling Kraus's requirement to keep the torch free from printing errors. Kraus called him the "co-creator" of his work. On the occasion of Georg Jahoda's death, Kraus published a poem in his memory. Georg Jahoda's son Martin continued to run the publishing house until after the death of Karl Kraus. In 1938 the publishing house was "Aryanised".

Georg Jahoda, as the favorite brother of Carl Jahoda, the father of the social researcher Marie Jahoda, played an important role in her family.
