Georg Johann II. (Palatinate-Lützelstein)

Georg Johann II of Pfalz-Lützelstein-Guttenberg (born June 24, 1586 in Lützelstein ; † September 29, 1654 ) was Count Palatine von Guttenberg and since 1611 also Count Palatine von Lützelstein.

Life

Georg Johann was the fourth son of Count Palatine Georg Johann I von Veldenz (1543–1592) from his marriage to Anna Maria (1545–1610), daughter of King Gustav I Wasa of Sweden.

Georg Johann followed his father in 1592 after a division of the estate together with his brother Ludwig Philipp in the Guttenberg estate . His older brothers Georg Gustav and Johann August received Veldenz and Lützelstein, respectively . At first, Georg Johann was under the tutelage of his mother and his eldest brother Georg Gustav. After his brother Ludwig Philipp was killed in a tournament in Heidelberg in 1601, Georg Johann II ruled Guttenberg alone.

After the death of his older brother Johann August 1611, Georg Johann II also took over the county of Lützelstein.

With Georg Johann, the Palatinate lines Guttenberg and Lützelstein became extinct again, the territories fell to Georg Johann's nephew Leopold Ludwig . Georg Johann II is buried in Lützelstein.

Marriage and offspring

Georg Johann II married Susanna (1591–1661), daughter of the Count Palatine and Duke Otto Heinrich von Sulzbach in Neuburg in 1613 , with whom he had the following children:
