Georg Keferstein

Georg Karl Friedrich Keferstein (born January 1, 1831 in Lüneburg ; † May 28, 1907 there ) was a German politician . He was Lord Mayor of Lüneburg.

Life

Born as the son of an official assistant professor , Keferstein studied law in Göttingen after attending the Johanneum Lüneburg high school . During his studies in 1851 he became a member of the old Göttingen fraternity Alemannia . After completing his studies, he became city secretary in 1859, lawyer in 1861 , paid senator in 1876 , syndic in 1881 and mayor of Lüneburg in 1894. In 1901 he retired. In 1871 he ran for the National Liberal Party for the Reichstag . In 1878 he was involved in founding the museum association for the Principality of Lüneburg . Kefersteinstrasse in Lüneburg was named after him in 1905 .
