Georg Krämer (born February 22, 1906 in Hanau , † January 2, 1969 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German sculptor and medalist .

life and work

Georg Krämer was born the son of a blacksmith. He studied in Hanau, Offenbach am Main and Frankfurt and in 1934 he moved into his first studio at the Städelschule . A multitude of fountains and works of art in Frankfurt and throughout Germany were created by him.

His portrait panels of Kennedy, Beckmann, Hindemith, Stürmer and Graf in Frankfurt made him famous. The “ Roman plaque ” awarded by the city of Frankfurt for volunteer work and the tomb of Mayor Walter Kolb are his work.

For 10 years he was chairman of the Frankfurter Kunstgesellschaft. He is buried in the Frankfurt Südfriedhof .
