Georg Limburg

Georg Limburg (born November 13, 1925 in Völkershausen ) is a former German trade unionist . He was chairman of the Suhl district board of the Free German Trade Union Federation (FDGB).

Life

Limburg, son of a wheelwright , attended elementary school and completed an apprenticeship as a car mechanic and then worked in this profession. In 1943 he was drafted into the Reich Labor Service , then into the Wehrmacht .

After the Second World War he worked as a locksmith from 1946 to 1950. In 1948 he joined the SED . In 1949/50 he was BGL chairman in Vieths (Bad Salzungen district), then from 1950 to 1953 instructor of the Thuringian regional council and the Erfurt regional council of IG Metall . After studying at the party college "Karl Marx" (1953) he acted from 1954 to 1958 as chairman of the FDGB district executive committee in Suhl. Limburg was also a member of the Suhl district leadership of the SED and at times also a candidate or member of its office. Limburg later worked as a secretary for work and wages in the city council of the FDGB Erfurt.
