Franz Strube

Franz Strube (born September 3, 1904 in Gotha ; † December 4, 1973 ) was a German trade unionist . He was chairman of the Suhl district board of the Free German Trade Union Federation (FDGB).

Life

Strube, son of a carpenter, attended elementary and vocational school . He completed an apprenticeship as a typesetter and later worked in this profession and as a construction worker. In 1919 he joined the Socialist Workers' Youth and in 1922 the Communist Youth Association of Germany . In 1925 he became a member of the Communist Party of Germany (KPD), whose local group Walldorf he later headed.

After the takeover of the Nazi party to Strube 1933 was temporarily in " protective custody " in prison Untermaßfeld . From 1939 to 1945 he was a judge at the arms factory "Sauer & Sohn" in Suhl .

After the war ended in 1945, Strube was one of the founders of the Free German Trade Union Federation (FDGB) in Meiningen . He rejoined the KPD and was a party functionary in Walldorf. In 1946 he became a member of the SED . In 1947 he took part in a course at the SMA school in Königs Wusterhausen . From 1946 to 1950 and 1951/52 he worked as chairman of the FDGB district executive in Meiningen. In 1950 he temporarily served as the second chairman of the FDGB state board of Thuringia and as head of the labor and social affairs department. From 1950 to 1952 he was also a member of the SED regional leadership in Thuringia. After the dissolution of the states in the GDR, Strube was chairman of the FDGB district committee in Suhl and a member of the SED district leadership in 1952/53. In 1953 he studied at the district party school. From 1954 to 1956 he was secretary of the SED company party organization at VEB Ernst-Thälmann-Werk in Suhl. From 1960 to 1962 he was secretary of the district peace council, then from 1962 to 1964 operations manager of the Römhild concrete plant . From 1964 to 1969 he was a board member for management / work and deputy chairman of the Meiningen consumer cooperative .
