Georg Moritz Sigismund Blochmann

Georg Moritz Sigismund Blochmann (born August 23, 1820 in Dresden ; † January 28, 1894 in Loschwitz ) was a city ​​gas technician and entrepreneur in Dresden.

Life

He was the son of the engineer and gas technology pioneer Rudolf Sigismund Blochmann (1784–1871).

Georg Moritz Blochmann built 17 gas stations in smaller Saxon towns such as Annaberg, Werdau, Bautzen, Zittau, Glauchau, Leisnig, Pirna, Reichenbach, Riesa, Auerbach, Forst, Waldheim and Zschopau by 1868 . When his father retired the following year, he also took over the management of the Berlin gas works.

In the German Association of Gas and Water Experts , he was a member of the board of directors from 1859 to 1868, and chaired it from 1860 to 1865. He also devoted himself to training lighting and gas system technicians.

According to Karl Heinrich Kaufhold, he and his father are considered to be one of the most important pioneers among German gas experts.

On May 10, 1854, King Maximilian II of Bavaria awarded him the gold medal of the Order of Merit of the Bavarian Crown .

Blochmann was married to Luise Kühne since 1845. The marriage resulted in seven children, including Reinhart Blochmann (1848–1920), professor of chemistry at the University of Königsberg, and the civil engineer, calendar reformer and Kiel city councilor Rudolf Blochmann (1865–1944).
