Georg Pölzl

Georg Pölzl (born April 24, 1957 in Graz ) is an Austrian manager. He is currently CEO of Österreichische Post AG .

Career

After his school career, Pölzl studied petroleum engineering at the Montanuniversität Leoben . Then, in the years 1987 to 1993, the Styrian at was McKinsey & Co. operates.

In 1993 he moved to Gleisdorf to join the board of the machine and systems manufacturer Binder + CO AG . Five years later, in 1998, Georg Pölzl came to Austria's first private mobile operator max.mobil , with whom he completed the complete takeover by T-Mobile in 2002. As a result, the company was known as T-Mobile Austria until spring 2019 .

In February 2007, the parent company Deutsche Telekom AG brought him to Germany as a special representative for the group-wide efficiency program. At the beginning of 2009 he was promoted to CEO of T-Mobile Germany.

Pölzl has been CEO of Austrian Post since October 1st, 2009 .

In 2014, Pölzl was appointed professor for “Strategic Management” at the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences at the Karl-Franzens University in Graz .

In August 2016 he was appointed to the supervisory board of the “Austrian Committee for UNICEF”.

In October 2019 Georg Pölzl was awarded the honor of an honorary senator in recognition and commitment to the Montanuniversität Leoben.
