Georg Riemenschneider (wood carver)
Georg Riemenschneider , also Jörg Riemenschneider , Jorg Rymennschneider or Jorg Thilo , (* around 1500 probably in Würzburg ; † around 1570) was a German wood carver and sculptor. He was a son of Tilman Riemenschneider and his second wife Anna Rappolt. He was trained by his father and was a key employee in his workshop. After the death of his father, he took over the workshop. The tombstone of Tilman Riemenschneider is one of the most famous works ascribed to him.
