Georg Schubert (born June 26, 1911 in Rosenheim , † November 4, 2005 in Traunstein ) was a German painter and graphic artist .

Life

Schubert attended the Munich Art Academy and was a representative of the Munich School. He enjoyed a private training and apprenticeship in graphic design as well as studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin . By winning poster competitions and getting to know Heinz Schulz-Neudamm , 11 years his senior , he got into film advertising. In the course of his life as an artist he was able to record many successes. Among other things, he was awarded a gold medal at an international art exhibition in Paris and received various badges of honor. From 1948 he worked again for the film industry . Numerous original poster drafts are preserved in the German Film Museum in Frankfurt am Main . From 1950 to 1975 he lived in Wiesbaden, where he took part in the annual exhibitions of the Künstlerbund in the fountain colonnade as well as in the Biebrich Castle and in the Villa Clementine in the house of the Hessian state government. He was also a member of the Munich Artists' Cooperative in Munich. The artist's works could be admired at exhibitions in Bonn, Paris, Strasbourg, Baden-Baden and San Francisco. In addition to numerous film posters and cinema graphics, he also made a name for himself as a landscape painter and portrait draftsman (including for local associations). In his last and most important creative period, the artist drew many female nudes in oil.
