Heinz Schulz-Neudamm

Heinz Schulz-Neudamm (born July 7, 1899 in Neudamm , Königsberg district, Neumark ; † May 13, 1969 in Wiesbaden ; actually Paul Heinz Otto Schulz ) was a German graphic artist and illustrator .

Active in Berlin until the 1940s, Schulz, who named himself Schulz-Neudamm after his place of birth, designed numerous advertising designs for various film companies - such as Diary a Lost (1929) or Hereditary Tricks (1929). However, he mainly worked for German agencies for American distribution companies, including Deutsche Fox (later 20th Century Fox ), Deutsche Universal Film AG , Parufamet and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer . He mainly designed German premiere posters for American films, for example Anna Karenina (1935, with Greta Garbo ) and Mutiny on the Bounty / Mutiny On The Bounty (1935, with Charles Laughton and Clark Gable ).

Schulz-Neudamm was responsible for the design of the ParUfaMet press booklet and the Paramount journal. He also designed illustrations, including portrait sketches for the magazine Filmillustrierte . Schulz-Neudamm lived in Wiesbaden from the beginning of the 1950s, where he continued to work for the film industry, including the United Artists .

The original drawing of the poster for the classic film Metropolis was sold in London in November 2005 for the record price of 398,000 pounds sterling.
