Georg Schwarz (technologist)

Georg Friedrich Wilhelm Hermann Schwarz (born June 28, 1896 in Koenigsberg , † September 14, 1979 in Stuttgart ) was a German food technologist and university professor, he was Rector of the University of Hohenheim (LWH) from 1956 to 1958 .

Life

Schwarz attended high school and high school in Königsberg. After doing voluntary service in the army, he served in the Upper Silesian border guard. In 1919 he received his secondary school leaving certificate. Schwarz then studied natural and agricultural sciences at the University of Königsberg, graduating as a chemist (1920). With his dissertation on the subject: In order to gain knowledge of centrifuge sludge , he received his doctorate in 1924 Dr. phil.

As an assistant in the Dairy Industry Institute, he completed his habilitation with a thesis on lactic ferments with Venia legendi for the subject of food technology at the University of Königsberg . In 1929 he moved to the University of Halle and completed his habilitation. The Reich Food Ministry commissioned Schwarz to edit the implementing provisions for the Reich Milk Law. In 1934 he was appointed associate professor at the University of Berlin .

From 1935 he was director of the chemical institute of the Prussian experimental and research institute for dairy farming in Kiel and also taught as an associate professor at the University of Kiel . In 1947 he received a personal ordinariate there.

In 1950 he accepted a position at the Hohenheim Agricultural University near Stuttgart , where he became director of the Institute for Agricultural Technology. From 1956 to 1958 he was rector of the university, in 1964 he retired in Hohenheim.
