Georg Severich (born February 9, 1959 in Aachen ) is a former German automobile racing driver .

Career

Georg Severich started his motorsport career in 1981, initially as an amateur in slalom and mountain racing , before entering touring car racing in 1984 .

In 1989 he became a professional racing driver. From 1989 to 1992 as well as 1996, 1997 and 2001 he started in the 24-hour race of Spa-Francorchamps . He achieved his best result in 1990 with class victory in A-Class 2 in a BMW M3 Evo .

In 1990 he drove his first race in the German Touring Car Championship (DTM) in a BMW M3 Evo. In the 1993 season he competed for Team Racing Dynamics with a BMW M3 Sport Evolution and a year later he drove a BMW M3 E36 . He achieved his best DTM result in 1993 at the second round of the Eifel race at the Nürburgring , where he finished 12th.

Severich drove in the Belgian Belcar racing series from 1998 to 2006. In 2000, he and his driver colleague Luc Pensis took eighth place overall in a BMW 320i STW and won the championship title in the TB classification. The following year both were able to repeat the success and secure the TB title.

In 1999 he founded his own motorsport team, GS Motorsport. That year he started the last season of the German Super Touring Car Championship with a BMW 320i and finished in 21st place.

In 2001 he drove two races in the FIA GT Championship for the Belgian team GLPK Racing in a Chrysler Viper GTS-R in the GT class.

Severich ended his active driving career at the end of the 2006 season. In 2007 he had one last race in the ADAC GT Masters at the Hockenheimring. Together with Arvid Steinberg , he drove a Dodge Viper Competition Coupe in the first run to 14th place.
