Georg Strnadt

Georg Strnadt (born March 18, 1909 in Vienna ; † July 4, 1980 there ) was an Austrian writer and dialect poet .

Life

Georg Strnadt first attended the elementary school in Vienna, but due to the relocation of his parents to Perchtoldsdorf , the 4th grade and the public school there. Then he attended the technical and commercial federal college in Mödling .

As a result of the global economic crisis , he subsequently lost most of the jobs. Strnadt used the period of unemployment to take matriculation exams as an external student at the Realgymnasium in Mödling and at the teacher training institute in Vienna ( Hegelgasse ).

After two years as an (unpaid) trial teacher, he became a representative at Wiener Städtische Versicherung, from where he moved to Zürich-Kosmos in 1938 .

Strnadt was drafted into the Wehrmacht in May 1940 and did not return home until 1945. He began studying art history at the University of Vienna, but did not finish it. Instead he opened an antique shop, from which he retired in 1970 due to illness.

Georg Strandt had two children (son Günther * 1938, daughter Ilse * 1940).

In 1975 he was awarded the silver medal of the federal capital Vienna .
