Jakob Georg Sulzer

Jakob Georg Sulzer (born May 9, 1844 in Winterthur ; † December 29, 1929 ) was a Swiss lawyer , writer and spiritualist .

He was born the son of Jakob Heinrich Sulzer and Catharina Forrer. In 1875 he married Anna Klein († 1879), with whom he had three children.

Life

Sulzer studied law at the University of Zurich from 1863 . In 1864/1865 he studied for two semesters in Germany at the University of Heidelberg . In 1868/1869 he passed his first bar exam. From 1870 he worked as an adjunct to the district governor. In 1871 he was elected judge at the District Court of Winterthur and in 1877 Vice President of the District Court. In 1881 he was appointed judge at the higher court by the Cantonal Council. In 1890 he resigned as a judge at the higher court. In 1891 he was elected substitute and in 1894 a full member of the Court of Cassation of the Canton of Zurich . In 1896 he was elected President of the Court of Cassation as the successor to a resigned President. For the period from 1899 to 1905 he was regularly elected President of the court.

With his books, Sulzer belonged to the Christian spiritism scene in Switzerland at the time. The "CEEAK - Center for Spiritist Study Allan Kardec" in Zurich has been looking after his estate since 2008.
