George Thomas (mentioned from 1534 in Marburg , † 1578/1579) was an out of Switzerland originating in Hessen active painter , sculptor and trimmer .

Live and act

Georg (Jörg) Thomas was probably a son of the painter Hermann Thomas and came from Basel . In 1534 he enrolled at the University of Marburg, of which he was a member until 1555. He created sculptures, tombs and paintings for the city of Marburg and the Landgrave of Hesse. It is probably identical to the form cutter with the monogram GT (with compass).
