Georg Wachsmann

Georg Wachsmann (* around 1685 , † 1760 ) was a German organ builder in Transylvania .

Life

He was possibly a descendant of the chronicler Georg Wachsmann from Schäßburg. Georg guard was as an organ builder in at least since 1719 Birthälm active (today Biertani). His son Johann Georg Wachsmann (1740–1814) took over the workshop after his death in 1760, and in 1779 it went to Samuel Maetz.

Works (selection)

Several new organs in Transylvania are known from Georg Wachsmann, along with maintenance work. The work in Tobsdorf / Dupuș (previously in Biertan) has been preserved as the oldest surviving organ from an organ builder in Transylvania known by name. Instruments that no longer exist are in italics .
