Georg Weimer

Georg Weimer (born September 24, 1909 in Fussingen , † January 30, 1999 in Zell (Mosel) ) was a German local politician and mayor .

Life

Georg Weimer, about whose school education nothing has been handed down, was the full-time mayor of the municipality of Kamp am Rhein from September 15, 1948 to January 31, 1950 . From 1950 to 1970 he was then a full-time and subsequently honorary mayor of the city of Zell an der Mosel until March 1987.

During his long service of 27 years, a pedestrian bridge and a car bridge over the Moselle were built in Zell. In addition, the new Barl district was developed and the new St. Josefs Hospital moved from the city center of Zell, and building land for residential buildings as well as for industrial and small businesses was designated there. A building area was also designated in the opposite Moselle town of Kaimt. Zell received a new town hall and a sports center and a flood protection wall could also be implemented.

For 30 years, Weimer has been involved in various committees at the local political level as a member of the district council, the district committee, as a second district deputy and as chairman of the CDU district assembly. Weimer has been honored in many ways for his longstanding services in the Cochem-Zell district .
