Hampigny is a French commune with 238 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Aube department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Champagne-Ardenne ). The municipality is part of the Bar-sur-Aube arrondissement and the Lacs de Champagne municipal association, founded in 2014 . The inhabitants are called Hampignois .
geography
The municipality of Hampigny is located in the northeast of the Forêt d'Orient Regional Nature Park , about 45 kilometers northeast of Troyes on the Voire , which partially forms the northern municipal boundary, in an area of southern Champagne that is very rich in forests and lakes . The soil is too moist and unsuitable for viticulture and so you can only find vines of the Côte de l'Aube wine-growing region around 30 kilometers south near Bar-sur- Aube . The districts of La Marcelle, Ferme de Courgain and Ferme de la Réserve are part of the 9.49 km² municipal area of Hampigny . The Lac du Der-Chantecoq, the largest reservoir in France, is located 20 kilometers northeast of Hampigny. To the east, the municipality borders on the Haute-Marne department . Hampigny is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Villeret and Lentilles in the north, Rives Dervoises in the east and Vallentigny in the south and southwest.

Attractions
- Saint-Nicolas Church (St. Nicholas) with a 1855 by sculptor François Joseph Valtat from Troyes -built carved tabernacle depicting the four evangelists and Christ at the summit, as since 1995 historique monument reported

Economy and Infrastructure
Eleven farms are located in Hampigny (sheep, goat and cattle breeding, grain, potato and vegetable cultivation).
Hampigny is located off the main national transport routes. Several highways meet in the small town of Brienne-le-Château , nine kilometers away . 36 kilometers southwest near Troyes there is a connection to the A 26 autoroute . The largely disused railway line Jessains – Sorcy runs through the municipality of Hampigny .
