Soulaines-Dhuys is a French commune with 413 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Aube department in the Grand Est region . The place belongs to the arrondissement Bar-sur-Aube and the canton Bar-sur-Aube . In addition, the municipality is part of the community association Communauté de communes de Soulaines, founded in 1993 . The inhabitants are called Soulainois (es) .

geography

Soulaines-Dhuys is located on the Laines River , around 50 kilometers east-northeast of Troyes and 16 kilometers north of the small town of Bar-sur-Aube in the east of the Aube department, on the border with the Haute-Marne department . The community consists of the village of Soulaines-Dhuys and is largely covered by forest.

Neighboring communities are Ceffonds (in the Haute-Marne department) in the north, Trémilly (also in the Haute-Marne department) in the east, Thil in the south-east, Ville-sur-Terre in the south, Fuligny in the south-west, La Chaise in the west and Morvilliers in the north-west.

history

Until the French Revolution, Soulaines-Dhuys was within the province of Champagne . The community belonged to the district of Bar-sur-Aube from 1793 to 1801. It has been part of the Bar-sur-Aube arrondissement since 1801. From 1793 to 1801 the place was assigned to the canton of Ville sur Terre. From 1801 to 2015, the municipality was the capital of the canton of Soulaines-Dhuys .
