Montmorency-Beaufort is a French commune with 137 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Aube department in the Grand Est region ; it belongs to the arrondissement of Bar-sur-Aube and the canton of Brienne-le-Château .
history
Under the original name Beaufort, the place was the residence of the Duke of Beaufort . The duchy was renamed the Duchy of Montmorency in 1689 . The place followed this renaming in so far as it changed its name to Montmorency-Beaufort.
