Georg Wolff (pedagogue)

Georg Wolff (born October 1, 1882 in Berlin ; † November 5, 1967 there ) was a German teacher and education politician ( DDP , LDP ).

Life

Wolff was initially a primary school teacher, later a high school teacher at the Königstädtisches Gymnasium in Berlin-Mitte . Since the beginning of the Weimar Republic , he was active in professional and educational policy. In 1919 he became a board member of the Berlin teachers 'association and editor of the Allgemeine Deutsche Lehrerzeitung , the organ of the supra-regional German teachers' association (DLV). From 1925 to 1933 Wolff was chairman of the DLV. He was active in the German Democratic Party (DDP), primarily in the field of cultural policy, as a member of the culture committee (1927) and the party committee (1929).

As a cultural politician of the DDP and chairman of the teachers' association, Wolff was involved in the school and educational policy discussions of the Weimar Republic, especially in Berlin, through his participation in the first Berlin School Act and numerous publications and lectures. In the final phase of the Weimar Republic, Wolff approached in some performances the National Socialism and was eventually involved in 1933 because the DLV same switch by the National Socialist Teachers League was integrated.

From 1927 to 1945 Wolff was a school councilor in the Niederbarnim -Süd district. One of the schools he supervised was the rural school in Tiefensee , where the reform pedagogue Adolf Reichwein worked.

In 1946 Wolff was cultural advisor for the Berlin regional association of the Liberal Democratic Party of Germany and lecturer for teacher training in Berlin-Weißensee . In 1946 he was elected as a member of the Berlin city council.
