Georg Zacharias
Georg Zacharias (born June 14, 1886 in Berlin ; † July 31, 1953 there ) was a German swimmer .
At the 1904 Olympic Games in St. Louis , he became Olympic champion over 440 yards in the breaststroke . Previously, he had already won the bronze medal over 110 yards in the backstroke . From 1907 to 1910 he held the world record over 400 m breasts and from 1904 to 1910 he was world record holder over 500 m breasts. World records over these routes have not been recorded since 1948.
In 2002 he was inducted into the international swimming pool 's hall of fame .
