The George Glacier is a valley glacier in the western section of the Anare Mountains in East Antarctic Victoria Land . It rises east of Mount Burch and flows in a north-westerly direction past Mount Kelly to the Lillie glacier tongue on the Pennell coast .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it on the basis of its own surveys and with the help of aerial photographs of the United States Navy between 1960 and 1965. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1970 after the American zoologist Robert Y. George (* 1936), who from 1967 until 1968 worked on the McMurdo station .
