George Baird Hodge
George Baird Hodge (born April 8, 1828 in Fleming County , Kentucky , † August 1, 1892 in Longwood, Orange County , Florida ) was an American politician in the 19th century . He was also the son-in-law of John Wooleston Tibbatts .
Hodge ran unsuccessfully for a seat in the US House of Representatives in 1853 , but became a member of the Kentucky State Legislature in 1859 . After the secession of his home state, he represented it first in the provisional and later in the 1st Confederate Congress . During the Civil War he served as a general in the Confederate Army . In 1873 he was elected to the Kentucky Senate, which he served until 1877.
George Baird Hodge died in Longwood, was first buried in Seminole County , Florida, but then transferred to Evergreen Cemetery in Southgate , Kentucky in 1903 .
