George Bassett Clark
George Bassett Clark (born February 14, 1827 in Lowell , Massachusetts , † December 20, 1891 in Cambridge , Massachusetts) was an American astronomer and telescope builder .
He was the son and partner of Alvan Clark and the brother of Alvan Graham Clark . The family ran the Alvan Clark & Sons company in the 19th century to build refraction telescopes . It made several of the record-breaking telescopes used in Cambridge , Massachusetts , including the largest refraction telescope of its time at the Yerkes Observatory .
In 1878, George Bassett Clark was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences .
