George Carey Foster.

George Carey Foster (born October 20, 1835 in Sabden , Ribble Valley , Lancashire , † February 9, 1919 in Rickmansworth ) was an English physicist.

After graduating with a BA , he became Professor of Physics at Anderson's University in Glasgow in 1862 . From 1865 to 1891 he was at University College London . He worked in the field of electricity and magnetism. He was elected a member of the Royal Society in 1869 and was a member of the Chemical Society. In 1907 he became an elected member of the American Philosophical Society .
