George Guthrie

George Guthrie ( George Phineas Guthrie, Jr .; born March 13, 1904 in Elyria , Ohio , † June 1, 1972 in Columbus , Ohio) was an American hurdler who specialized in the 110-meter distance .

At the Olympic Games in Paris in 1924, he was disqualified in the final for breaking three hurdles.

In 1925 he was US champion over 120 yard hurdles and in 1926 and 1927 US indoor champion over 70 yard hurdles. Starting for Ohio State University , he became NCAA champion over 120 yard hurdles in 1926 . He set his personal best over this distance of 14.4 s on June 5, 1926 in Columbus .
