George Hotel

The George Hotel is a hotel operation in the Scottish town of Inveraray . It is located on Main Street directly northeast of Inveraray Parish Church and is therefore directly on the A83 , which connects the south of the region to the Kintyre Peninsula on the Central Belt . In 1966 the George Hotel was included in the Scottish Monuments List in the highest category A.

According to information from Historic Scotland , the building was erected in 1779, although the hotel business previously only occupied the southern of the two identical buildings that make up the hotel. According to the hotel operators, however, the building was completed in 1770. Since 1860 it has extended over both houses, which were built using a closed construction method. Before the completion of the Inveraray Parish Church, provisional church rooms were set up in both buildings at ground level. The hotel has been in the family for seven generations.
