George Jamesone
George Jamesone (born February 18, 1587 or 1588 in Aberdeen , † before December 11, 1644 in Edinburgh ) was a Scottish portrait and miniature painter .
Jamesone (pron. Dschehms'n), painted especially portraits that are characterized by a lively conception and diligent execution, as well as landscapes and histories, partly in oil, partly in miniature.
The Magistrate of Edinburgh had him paint a number of Scottish kings when Charles I visited Scotland in 1633. In Scotland many of the aristocratic residences are adorned with family pictures of Jamesone.
