George Jones (journalist)
George Jones (* 16th August 1811 in Poultney , Vermont ; † 12. August 1891 ) was an American journalist and together with Henry Jarvis Raymond co-founder of the New-York Daily Times , now York Times New whose first issue on 18 September 1851 was published.
Before founding the New York Times, Jones was a banker in Albany, New York . With the death of Henry Jarvis Raymond in 1869 he became the sole editor. Jones was buried in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery .
