George Moran (musician)

George Moran (born 1954 or 1955 in Cleveland , Ohio , † February 18, 2002 ) was an American jazz trombonist ( bass trombone ).

Live and act

Moran began playing the trumpet in fifth grade before switching to the trombone in junior high school. He studied music at Capital University in Columbus (Ohio), then at North Texas State University , where he first made recordings with North Texas State University 1:00 O'Clock Lab Band and finally received the offer to join Buddy Rich Playing big band . He was then a member of the Dave Chesky Band; from 1978 to 1980 with the Thad Jones / Mel Lewis Orchestra . In 1979 Moran moved to New York City, where he worked as a studio musician and a theater musician on Broadway . During this time he also worked on recordings by Rich Szabo , Bob Mintzer , Terumasa Hino , Ed Palermo , Vince Mendoza and Bob Belden . In 1992 he performed with Buddy Rich's Band at the Cancun Jazz Festival and with the Bob Belden Ensemble at the Mt. Fuji Jazz Festival in Japan. In the field of jazz he was involved in 26 recording sessions between 1977 and 1994.
