The University of North Texas (UNT for short) is a public university in Denton , in the US state of Texas . With approximately 32,000 students, it is the largest university in the Dallas - Fort Worth area and the third largest university in the state of Texas. The University of North Texas was founded in 1890. In addition to the main campus in Denton, the UNT Dallas Campus and the UNT Health Sciences Center are part of the “University of North Texas System”.
